Android requirements

Android apps distributed outside Google Play — or listed on multiple stores — still need a privacy policy URL for ads, SDKs, and OAuth integrations. Align your policy with Google Play Data safety if you also publish on Play Console. One hosted URL works across distribution channels.

What Android checks before listing

  • In Play Console open Policy and programs → App content, select Start (or Manage) under Privacy Policy, enter the URL and save. Google says the policy must be on an active URL, apply to your app and specifically cover user privacy.
  • Link the policy on the store listing and inside the app; the Play Console field alone is not enough.
  • The URL must be active, publicly accessible and non-geofenced, not a PDF, and the page must not be editable by visitors.
  • The policy must name the developer entity shown in the listing (or the app), give a privacy contact or inquiry channel, be labelled as a privacy policy, and disclose the personal and sensitive data accessed, collected, used and shared, the parties it goes to, secure handling, retention and deletion.
  • Apps that access no personal or sensitive data must still submit a privacy policy, and the policy is not limited to what the Data safety section declares.

What you get

  • A privacy policy written for Android submissions, not a generic template.
  • A hosted URL you paste straight into Android's privacy policy field.
  • Editable anytime — the link never changes, so you never resubmit.
  • Reusable across your other stores, ads, and app listings.

How it works

  1. 1Answer a few short questions about your Android app.
  2. 2We generate a compliant privacy policy and host it at a stable URL.
  3. 3Paste the link into Android and anywhere else that asks for one.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a privacy policy URL for Android?

Android — like most app platforms — asks for a link to a privacy policy that explains what data you collect and how it's used. A hosted privacy policy URL satisfies that field and stays online even if your own site or app changes.

How quickly can I get a Android privacy policy URL?

Usually a few minutes. Answer a short set of questions about your app, and we generate a compliant policy and host it at a stable link you can paste straight into Android.

Can I edit the policy after I've submitted the link to Android?

Yes. Your privacy policy URL stays the same while you update the content behind it, so you never have to resubmit a new link to Android.
